Find the rhythm of your soul in a tropical paradise
Reconnect with yourself, find your unique rhythm, and experience renewal in the abundant landscapes of El Salvador, where the Pacific Ocean meets the volcanoes.
Transform feelings of disconnection, overwhelm, or exhaustion into a greater sense of coherence that brings more peace, presence, and aliveness into your life.
Return home with new sense of clarity, practical tools, and supportive practices that help you create more coherence in your everyday life.
Waking up to the sound of tropical birds and feeling the morning sun on your face as you enjoy your first cup of coffee.
Starting your day with yoga overlooking the Pacific Ocean, followed by a nourishing breakfast shared around a big table with like-minded people who are beginning to feel like friends.
Moving through the afternoons at your own pace. Catching waves in the warm Pacific, reading by the pool, resting in a hammock, exploring the area, or just allowing yourself to do absolutely nothing.
Noticing the mental noise becoming quieter. Feeling the tension in your body softening. Allowing yourself to hear your heart's whispers. Feeling grounded, alive, and nourished from the inside out.
If you're ready to meet yourself on a deeper level, reset your nervous system, and return home with more clarity, lightness, and practical tools - welcome to Coherence Retreat.
Imagine…
What is Coherence Retreat?Coherence Retreat is my heart's offering.

More than a yoga holiday, Coherence Retreat is an invitation to step into a transformative experience designed to help you come home to yourself and cultivate coherence from within.
Throughout the week, you'll be supported by nature, movement, breathwork, rest, meaningful conversations, exploration, and a like-minded community: elements that can amplify long-lasting shifts.
Coherence Retreat is about reconnecting with your body, your heart, and your own inner rhythm while being held by the beauty and abundance of tropical El Salvador.

A day at Coherence Retreat
-
Hear the tropical birds and the sound of the ocean. Feel the gentle morning sun on your face. Smell the freshly ground coffee beans.
-
Start the day by saluting the sun, connecting with your body on a beautiful deck with an ocean view.
-
A nourishing breakfast with fresh coffee or good tea, and time to ease into the day.
-
Learn practical tools to understand and work with your nervous system, and explore what helps you feel more grounded, regulated and connected.
-
A healthy lunch in good company, followed by pool, hammock, reading, napping, or whatever calls you.
-
Head to the Pacific for a surf lesson, play with the waves and experience the thrill of this practice. The lesson will be tailored to your level.
-
Nothing scheduled. Get some rest or explore El Tunco Village.
-
Come together for a gentle but powerful breathwork journey to move stuck energy, create a shift, and make space for coherence.

Your hosts and team
Maria Vesanen
Retreat Lead, Breathwork Facilitator & CoachHi, I'm Maria,
I'm an authenticity coach (ICF-CCE), certified breathwork facilitator, and the creator of Coherence Retreat.
My work is rooted in the belief that the most important relationship in our lives is the one we have with ourselves. When we know who we are, we make better choices, build healthier relationships, and live more fulfilling lives. And what's the point of life if not that?
I've been coming to El Salvador since 2022 and started building a wintering home here in 2023. This country has changed my life in many ways, and it's become a place where I feel alive and at home. Creating Coherence Retreat is my way of sharing a place that means so much to me and introducing its magic to others.
Hi, I'm Ryan,
I'm the founder of El Sal Vibes, a concierge and services platform in Surf City, El Salvador, and the local host behind Coherence Retreat.
I moved here from the United States five years ago, bringing my law and later tech sales career with me before eventually starting my own business. What began as a place to surf and work remotely gradually became home.
Today, I run a business that connects visitors with trusted local experiences while supporting local businesses and the community. During the retreat, I'll make sure everything behind the scenes runs smoothly, so you can relax and enjoy your time in El Salvador.

Yes. El Salvador has changed dramatically in the last few years and is today one of the safest countries in Latin America.
The retreat house is located in Cerromar, a gated residential community just minutes from El Tunco and El Sunzal. The area is popular with both locals and international visitors, and you can freely walk to nearby cafés, restaurants and the beach.
I've been spending several months a year in El Salvador for the past five years, and I've always felt very safe here
-
If you are coming from the US or Canada, you can find direct flights to El Salvador from cities including Miami, New York and Toronto. Avianca and American Airlines are good options, and Volaris, a low-cost airline, also operates from certain airports.
If you're coming from Europe, you can combine your trip with a few days in Miami or New York and then continue with a direct flight to El Salvador. I've done this several times myself, and Avianca, American Airlines and Volaris are some options to look into.
If you'd like to travel all the way to El Salvador on one ticket, flying through the US is often the most economical option. American Airlines and Finnair offer some good routes and prices.
There are also direct flights from Madrid to El Salvador with Iberia and Iberojet on selected days.
My recommendation is to book directly with the airline rather than through online travel agencies. This usually makes things much smoother if you need to deal with unexpected changes or cancellations.
-
Absolutely. The retreat itself is for adults only, but you're very welcome to come with your partner.
If you'd like to join the retreat while having the rest of your family join you on the trip, we have relationships with several Airbnbs in the neighborhood. We can help your family find accommodation nearby, so you can spend time together during your free time between retreat activities.
-
Absolutely. You are very welcome to join the retreat on your own. The small group size makes it easy to connect with others, and many people find that travelling solo creates an even more meaningful retreat experience.
You’ll have your own space and time for yourself, while also being part of a small, supportive group throughout the retreat.
-
The international airport is around 45–60 minutes away from the retreat house, depending on traffic.
Airport transfers are included both ways if your arrival and departure are within the agreed timeframe around the retreat dates.
From the house, you can walk to the nearest village, El Tunco, in around 10 minutes. You can also get an Uber in around 3 minutes or rent a scooter.
Café Sunzal is the nearest café and restaurant, about a 6-minute walk or 2-minute drive away. You can access the beach from both El Tunco and El Sunzal.
-
The retreat language is English. My team of instructors and teachers all speak fluent English, and you don't need to know any Spanish to join the retreat.
If you're coming from Finland, you can of course communicate with me in Finnish, but English will be the shared language of the retreat.
-
The retreat is designed to be a beautiful, intimate experience. The minimum group size is 5 people and the maximum is 10 participants. This gives us enough space to create meaningful connections while keeping the retreat personal and intimate.
-
Not at all. All levels are welcome, as long as you hear the calling and are ready to meet yourself on a deeper level. The surf lessons are organized according to your experience and level, so you don't need any previous surfing experience.
-
That's completely fine (although you miss a lot of fun!). You can take time for yourself, rest in a hammock, enjoy the pool, or come along to the beach and hang out while others are surfing.
The retreat is about listening to yourself, so you don't need to participate in every activity. -
February is in the dry season in El Salvador, so you can expect warm and generally sunny weather.
The evenings can cool down a little, but a T-shirt is usually enough. The waves tend to be smaller and more accessible at this time of year, and the beaches in the area are sandy.
-
You need to have comprehensive travel insurance to join the retreat and send us a copy of your insurance beforehand.
There is a clinic in El Tunco for smaller accidents and medical needs. For more serious situations, there is a high-quality international hospital approximately 45–60 minutes away by car in San Salvador.
The retreat team will assist you in case of an emergency and make sure you get to the appropriate place for care.
Medical and other emergency-related costs are your responsibility and should be covered through your travel insurance.
-
A non-refundable deposit of 25% of the retreat price is required to reserve your place. For Early Bird bookings, the remaining balance is due by October 31. After the Early Bird period, bookings are accepted at the regular price and paid in full.
Payments are processed securely through my retreat partner, ElSal Vibes.
Registration is binding. All payments are non-refundable, and cancellations by participants cannot be accommodated.
We strongly recommend purchasing comprehensive travel insurance that includes trip cancellation coverage in case of illness or other unforeseen circumstances.
You can read the full terms and conditions in the booking form here.

Ryan helped me plan the absolute best birthday trip to El Salvador, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better travel planner. From start to finish, he was extremely helpful, answered every question I had, and made sure all the details were handled so everything ran smoothly.

Working with Maria was truly a transformative experience. When I started, I was frantically searching for peace. Over the course of the program, I gained so much clarity and this work brought me back into my body. It was like the path in front of me cleared, and things began to fall into place.

"Healing is the journey back to our natural state of balance and harmony that is called love. Healing becomes necessary when you lose contact with that natural state, when there is a disturbance in the Universal Flow. Healing can take place in many ways, each as uniquely individual as you. The one constant is for you to be connected to you.
When you are willing to accept responsibility for everything you create in your life, you can heal yourself. The power to heal lies within you. My role is to remind you of that, to be witness and hold space for you to make the necessary changes in your life without judgment in a safe, supportive and loving way."
— David Elliott, the Author of "Healing" and my main teacher (davidelliott.com)
